Why therapy?

College is a unique time of life. It can be the best time of your life making lasting friendships! It can also be incredibly difficult at times. Balancing classes, new people, pressures of the future, answering to your parents…it can be a LOT.

Childhood experiences can surface. Challenges with family can increase. Finding your “place” and “your people” on campus can be confusing.

Therapy is an opportunity to gain better understanding of yourself and your story. It does not have to be just a response to something bad happening or high stress. That is one of the awesome things about your generation – you guys take the initiative to get healthy! College years are actually a great time to do some therapy work before getting into the work force.

Help how?

A therapist is different from a friend, parent, pastor, etc. Licensed therapists have the clinical training and skills to know what areas to focus on and what tools to use to process particular issues to help you to reach your goals. And it is a confidential, designated space and time just for you.

Most students have found it is easy to fit in a virtual therapy session between their class schedule. I have found with virtual sessions, that EMDR therapy is just as effective as well – check that out on my page if you are curious to learn more. (Yes, it is the same type of therapy Prince Harry and Lady Gaga have talked about). In person sessions are also available in Austin, Texas.

If you are curious about starting your therapy work, send me a message below to set up a free phone call. You can also call or text (512) 599-7803.  We can chat for a few minutes so that you can get a feel if I am someone you would like to work with.
